Maute Group Behind Attack in Central Philippines?

The two blasts that injured 32 people in Leyte province in the eastern Visayas (central Philippines) last December 28 may be the handiwork of the Maute Group. Police authorities said that tests on bomb fragments show similarity to the terror group’s signature weapon. If true, it means that the organization is trying to expand its reach to areas outside its strongholds in the southern Philippines. The group was also blamed for a foiled attack of the US embassy
