Duterte’s Pivot to China Bearing Fruits

President Rodrigo Duterte’s talks with China may be bearing fruits, after reports that the Chinese government has tasked its central planning agency, National Development Reform Commission (NDRC), to ensure that agreements, grants and investments were implemented. Support is expected in rice production, fisheries, and fruits, as well as financing from the Export-Import Bank of China. China also lifted a negative travel advisory.
