Defense Department Now Says that EDCA and Annual Military Exercise with US Will Continue

In yet another clarification, the defense department announced that the Enhanced Defense Cooperation Agreement between the Philippines and the United States will stay, along with the annual military exercise. It cancelled, however, amphibious exercises involving marines and the Cooperation Afloat Readiness and Training (CARAT) drills with the US Navy. President Rodrigo Duterte, who has been at odds with the US over his brutal war on drugs, earlier said he wanted to abrogate the agreement
